Hey guys! I’ve been dying to review the Normaderm line that I received from Vichy recently for you. This is a line that I’ve never tried, and I was very excited when I opened the package and saw these three products as they are anti-acne and for sensitive skin (my skin isn’t super sensitive but I do like products for sensitive skin as I find they are more gentle).
Step 1: Cleanse using the Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel – This is meant to purify and cleanse your skin thoroughly without overdrying the skin.
Step 2: Tone using the Purifying Pore-Tightening Lotion – For oily and acne-prone skin. Meant to unclog and tighten your pores, leaves your skin with a matte finish.
Step 3: Hydrate using the Skin Balance, Anti-Oilness, Hydrating Aquagel – For oily skin. Instantly mattifies and reduces pore size.
Now, I have combination skin that is oily in the t-zone/nose and dry on my cheeks so I wasn’t sure what was going to happen to my cheek area considering this line is meant for oily skin and a lot of it is mattifying & we all know matte = dry. After using it twice a day for three days, I noticed my skin was starting to get dry flakes on the cheeks and sides of my nose which I wasn’t too happy about but momma didn’t raise no quitter so I kept using it. It’s been about two weeks now, and the dryness went away. My skin looks more balanced, less red, even-toned and my pores reduced.
The Cleanser – If you remember on my last skincare routine post, I mentioned that I switched my foaming cleanser to a gel cleanser due to some advice from an esthetician based on my combo skin. Because of this, I was super glad that Vichy sent me a gel cleanser. The cleanser itself is alcohol free and you really only need a dime-sized amount combined with water. I lather it on my hands first and then apply it to my face- it lathers amazingly! I also like that it has a pump, but the smell could be a tad less overwhelming. It’s almost cologne-y but pretty intense for a cleanser. My face feels extremely clean after using this. It retails for $26.00 CDN which I think is a great price as it is a high-end drugstore product.
The Lotion – Now, the toner had me worried as one of its main ingredients is alcohol, and alcohol is very drying for my skin. In fact, I’m pretty sure this was why my skin was dry at the beginning of the usage. However, I still use this day and night and I have noticed the dryness disappear. When I use the toner I can both see and feel it unclogging my pores, and they feel tighter after every use, not to mention my redness has subsided and my skin is finally starting to look more even. For $19.95 CDN, I would definitely recommend this toner.
The Hydragel – This product was a bit confusing for me at first. I wasn’t sure if it was a moisturiser, or if I was meant to use a different moisturiser on top. This is meant to be a hydrating gel that balances and mattifies the skin, aka an oil control. I only use this at nighttime before bed, and I keep it on my oily areas only (aka my t-zone and maybe chin) as I don’t want to dry out my already dry parts. The gel is cool and feels soothing, isn’t sticky or tacky when applied and makes my skin feel nice and clean. If you’re a matte foundation lover, this could be a good product to use before makeup application to get a super-matte finish. Retail price: $19.95 CDN.
Final thoughts – Personally, I really enjoy these products and will continue to use them. I have noticed results that I like and am particularly happy about my reduction in redness which is something that drives me nuts! I do wish that the scent was a little bit more subtle and maybe smelt different. I generally prefer products that smell more natural but it’s not unbearable. The cleanser is my favourite as I love how it lathers and how it makes my skin feel. The total of all 3 products is $65.90 CDN (before taxes) which is pretty good to me since I usually buy my products at Sephora where I would get one product for the price of these three. All in all, I would definitely recommend these to anyone with oily skin, acne-prone skin, sensitive skin, and even combination skin like mine.
