2017 has really been the year for permanent or semi-permanent makeup. 2017 is also the year that I finally tried things like lash extensions and microblading which is super risky for someone like me who normally plays it safe. So, if you’re like me and you are thinking about microblading but are still on the fence and need help deciding, then keep on reading!
One thing that I was really looking forward to was not having to fill in my brows every morning. I usually go for a pretty quick and natural look if I’m working or in school but having to do my eye brows would add 15 minutes to my regular 10 minute makeup routine, and that was starting to become a real pain in the ass. Not to mention the amount of effort it takes to make sure the girls look more like sisters than neighbors, ya feel? I made up my mind and went to go see Nikki at Ink Brow Bar located in Yaletown, Vancouver. I’ve known Nikki for a few years now (she used to do my nails and recently got into microblading) so I already knew that I could trust her and that she would make sure my brows looked perfect. As per my expectations, she truly did an amazing job! My brows are finally symmetrical, not too thin or too thick, the color was exactly the color I needed and they were feathery and nice all at the same time. Once we were finished, we booked my touch up appointment for 6 weeks later and I was on my merry way. The first three days, your brows will be darker than you want them to be (once healed they fade down) and may be itchy. Nikki gave me a healing lotion to take home and advised me to put it on before bed every night to help with the healing process. Three days later I was good to go and honestly, I haven’t looked back since.
Above is the before & after from my first appointment (excuse my lack of lashes and problematic skin, it was a hard time LOL). I get so many daily compliments on my brows now and Nikki did such an amazing job that you can’t even tell they’re microbladed!
Below is the second before & after, after my touch up appointment two weeks ago.
As you can see, they look darker initially but once healed blend into my true brow color. They also healed much faster the second time around which was great. Nikki is truly talented and has an eye for detail, given that she spent over 10 years perfecting nails. If you are interested in microblading, I would 100% definitely checking her out! She has a very detailed website where she talks about herself, her services & pricing, and has a page dedicated to frequently asked questions that she has carefully answered. You can visit the website here: https://www.inkbrowbar.com/, and also check her out on Facebook and Instagram: @inkbrowbar
Having amazing brows 24/7 really inspires my confidence whether I put a full face of makeup on, or none at all and if it’s something you’ve been thinking about but are unsure, DO IT. It’s a pricey service, but it’s honestly worth it. You’ll thank me when you realize how much quicker it is to get ready at 6 am when you’re in zombie mode.
As always, thank you all for reading!
