A couple of weeks ago I was surprised with a complimentary Rimmel London VoxBox in the mail from Influenster. It’s the first one I’ve ever recieved so I was pretty excited. Before I get reviewing though, I wanted to mention that this review as all others on my blog (unless stated otherwise) are not sponsored and are 100% my own thoughts and opinions. It’s been a very long time since I’ve bought anything from Rimmel as I do most of my makeup shopping at Sephora. When I do go to the drugstore I usually end up with L’Oreal or NYX so this was a nice change. I received a mascara and a matte lipstick. I’m not normally a fan of drugstore mascaras but they can surprise you sometimes so I was hoping for the best.

Rimmel Shake It Fresh Mascara – This mascara seems innovative to me. I like the idea of it. You can actually “shake it fresh” meaning you shake the mascara (up and down) and it helps keep it feeling new and clump-free. As far as the actual product goes, I wasn’t too impressed. It did nothing for my lashes besides tint them black. (I have very short lashes so lengthening mascaras are important). I also found the formula to be very liquidy which could be why this was happening. I feel like it would be a nice mascara for someone who naturally has long and curly lashes (for those that do, please note that I hate you. Jk I’m jealous), but for me it was a miss.

The Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Trendsetter (700) – I looove nude lipsticks so the color was a great choice for me. It’s a bit of a darker nude but still very pretty nonetheless and I’ve actually been wearing it quite a bit since I’ve received it. The formula feels nice and creamy when you put it on and it has a nice matte finish as well. It doesn’t have the same staying length as a liquid lipstick but as far as classic lippies go, this one stayed on for a solid 4-5 hours before I had to reapply, so not bad. The only thing I didn’t like is that the tip of the lipstick is flat instead of that classic lipstick shape that’s pointed with a flat edge. The classic shape is much easier for me to apply because my lips aren’t very big. The flatness of this one makes it a bit tricky to apply it without going over my line. I’m also not super fond of the packaging. It just looks a bit boring and basic to me, but other than that I would actually consider buying other colors of this product.

Thanks for reading loves!

Much love,
