Happy Thursday loves! A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of receiving some Mary Kay goodies in the mail. While I’ve heard of Mary Kay for years, I’ve never actually tried anything from them, so this was a first for me! I received three products in total, one of which was a deluxe sized hand cream that I’ve literally used up as I kept it in my work desk and mama’s been dryyyy lately, but also hence why you won’t see it on here. It’s gone. Dead. Used and abused. I can say that I obviously enjoyed it though, and if I can locate the tube I will try and remember to show you which one it was.

The first product that caught my eye was the foundation primer with SPF 15. I have been on the friggin’ prowl for a decent primer for ages. I mean agesssss. I feel like finding a good primer for my skin type (combination-oily) is damn near impossible, so I was definitely eager to try this out and pray to yeezus it would work for me. It says that it’s a gel formula, which I wasn’t too excited about because I’ve noticed anything gel-like or siliconey doesn’t seem to work well for my skin. It also says that its good for all skin types, and is oil-free. While the texture does feel gel-like, it definitely has a silicone-ish feeling to me, and after trying this with 4 different foundations, I realized it just doesn’t work. I’ve limited myself to using just on the bridge of my nose and the apples of my cheeks, and that does seem to help, but I’m not a fan of it for my entire face. However, if you find that primers with this texture work for you- this one is pretty affordable at $22 (mary kay website pricing), and I like that it has SPF in it as well.

The second product I got was….A FACE MASK! Yaaaassss, everyone knows how much I love face masks. And not just any mask, but a deep-cleansing charcoal mask! The combination scent of rosemary and peppermint had my love instantly. I love using this at night because the scent is so invigorating and relaxing. This mask is meant for deeeeep cleaning of your pores and impurities. It’s supposed to “suck” the impurities out of your skin in a mere 10 to 20 minutes. If you’re unfamiliar with the benefits of charcoal for the skin, it’s great for acne and basically a key ingredient to getting flawless skin. It helps with minimizing pores as well, so this is a great thing to have in a mask like this. I personally really like this mask. Other than the fantastic scent, I can literally see my pores being sucked out when it’s dried on my face. My skin feels amazing and so so so clean after washing it off. This is a great mask for combo to oily skin types as it really does a great job at controlling break outs and helps quite a bit with removing shine and grease from the face, which I definitely need in the hotter months!

All in all, not completely disappointed with my first Mary Kay experience! The primer was kinda meh for me, but the mask is wonderful and I use it twice a week still! (Oh and the mysterious hand creme LOL, that I will try to find at work at some point to show you). Have you guys used Mary Kay before? Do you have any recommendations for something else I should try from them? Please do tell!

Much love,
